11 Corporation hospitals in Belagavi face closure
With just two medicals practitioners of Ayurveda background and without nurses or a computers on its staff BCC has decided to close 11 corporation hospitals out of its 13 hospitals. The remaining two hospitals at Angol and Hosur were handed over to the Family and Welfare department to be run as hospitals under National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) program of the central Government . Health officer Shashidar Nadagowda said as the health section is facing acute shortage of staff at this juncture ,the department of family welfare asked for two buildings at Angol and Hosur respectively to run hospitals under NUHM.
Due to the scarcity of staff and medical officers. The health section of the BCC had proposed to close the hospitals. But so far, BCC council hadn’t approved either closure or handover of the structures because of difference of opinion.
