Cyclists peddle 200 kms from Hubballi to Belagavi, and back
The Hubballi Bicycle Club (HBC) recently organized a 200-km-long night brevet from BVB College in Hubballi to Kakati in Belagavi, and back. Twenty-one cyclists, including a Dharwad-based doctor couple, participated in the event. Dr Surekha Prabhu was the only woman to participate in the event .
The ride began at 6.45 pm on April 30, and participants peddled from Hubballi to Belgavi through Dharwad and Kittur. They had three stops along the way –at Chittor, Belgavi and Kakati.
Once they reached their destination –Kakati, the birthplace of Rani Chennamma-they began cycling back to Hubballi. The expedition took a total of 13 hours and the cyclists were back at their start point at 8.15 am on May1.
This was the third ride organized by the club, and the first night ride. The next ride has been planned for October 15, 2016 which will be a 300km run brevet that will partly take place at night. Destination has not yet been decided.
