Free rechargeable LED bulbs in place of Kerosene
Food Civil suppliers & Consumer Affairs Minister U T Khadar said ration card holders in rural areas having domestic gas connections could get free two rechargeable LED bulbs provided they give up kerosene.
Briefing reporters, on Saturday, khadar said ration card holders in rural areas were entitled to one liter kerosene despite having domestic gas connections .In case cardholders did not avail kerosene they could benefit with two rechargeable LED bulbs.
Discourage kerosene use
He said the department has been distributing 13.51 lakh litres of kerosene in one month in Belagavi district including 1.81 lakh liters in Athani and 1.2 lakh liters in Khanapur taluk.
The move aims to discourage use of kerosene. Those households which are deprived of kerosene despite having no domestic gas connection should place a requisition in writing before fair price shop to enable supply of kerosene. This will help government to know exact demand for kerosene and help in bringing transparency proper allotment and address needs of the beneficiary. State government has diluted the guide lines in identifying priority families for supply of food grains
