Hospitals to Offer free Hearse van service
In the wake of incidents of poor people walking their relatives body over their shoulders, or ferrying them on bicycles and other modes of transport because they cannot afford to pay for an ambulance of non availability of ambulance the district health department is going to introduce free hearse van service for the needy. Relatives of the dead can call 108 for free hearse van service. The state government has introduced the ‘Shrashanjali Hearse Van’ services, free of cost throughout the state. Until now the hearse van services operated only in the city limits. Initially, the van will operates only from district hospital; later the services will be extended to taluk hospital. The stationed on the district hospital permission will carry the body either to the home or to the graveyard. Minister UT Khader had promised to start free hearse van services after it was brought to his notice that poor could not afford private hearse van .
