Medium of instruction in schools will be Kannada
Karnataka assembly has passed a bill which states that Kannada language should be used as medium of instruction up to class 5.
The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) act, 2009 was amended in the house. The original act states that the child should be educated in mother tongue or Kannada where as the new amendment replaces the clause and mandates the government to provide primary education as far as possible in mother tongue or Kannada.
Assembly has also made Kannada language compulsory to student of class 1 to 10. This bill, making Kannada compulsory covers CBSE, ICSE and International schools.
