No Night Driving Through Dandeli Forests From January 1
About 70km of road that passes through the kali Tiger Reserve in Dandeli will now have night traffic ban in the interest of wildlife protection. An order has been issued by the DC of uttar kannada district and the ban will be implemented by the night of january 1.
The order stated that the night traffic ban needs to implemented due to increase in the death rate of mammals and reptiles due to road kills.
The three roads that pass through the kali tiger reserve (KTR)Anmod hemmadaga, Potoli-Ulavi and Bhagavati-Kulagi road will be closed for night traffic. All these three roads have alternative roads ready and the traffic can move on the new roads during the night hours have alternative roads. About 50-60 animals have been killed by vehicles in the last few year.
The traffic ban will help these animals survive without human pressure at least during night hours,” said an advocate and local conservationist from dandeli Rahul Bavaji.
