Power Loom complex will come up at Pant Balekundri
Here is good news for the weavers of North Karnataka. The textile department has decided to establish a power loom complex in Belagavi t encourage textile business. The department has identified 1 acre land at Pant Balekundri for the complex which will come up at a cost of Rs 3 crore. Arrangement is being made for the ground-breaking ceremony which is likely to take place this month-end. The complex will have a training center where weavers will be trained in using latest technology. There will be a readymade garments manufacturing unit which is likely to be ready by next year “Once the complex is set up, weavers will get stipend,” Said Najeer Kangsolli, vice-president, state textile Developments Corporation. The corporation is also planning mini-power loom units at Jamakhandi, Rabakavi and Kittur where the weaver population is more . Kiran Patil ,a weaver welcomed the decision to set up the textile complex but urged the authorities to create market for products manufactured weavers of Vadagoa and Shahapur.
