Rising Water Levels in Dams Brings Cheer
In the month of May and June drinking water to the City was being supplied by pumping the dead stock in the Rakaskoppa Dam and the available live 1 TMC water in Hidkal Dam.
Water from Rakaskoppa Dam flows to the city with gravity , but water levels reaching dead stock had resulted in the pumps being installed to draw water. After monsoon revived last week, water levels in Rakaskoppa Dam and Hidkal Dam have been increasing consistently. Pumps were continuously put in use at Rakaskoppa Dam for pumping water as water levels were yet to reach the levels wherein the water could flow by gravity.
Water levels in Rakaskoppa Dam reached 2,44950 feet on Tuesday, while the same were 2,470.50 feet previous year on the same day. Water levels in Hidkal Dam on Tuesday were 2,081.45 ft and inflow 12,045 cusecs, while previous year on the same day water levels were 2,108.48 ft. Water levels in Malaprabha dam were 2,031.62 ft.
