SAUNDATTI : A MAJOR PILGRIM CENTRE
The Yellamma Devi Temple is located in Saundatti taluq, five kilometers away from Saundatti town. Saundatti itself is 80 km away from Belgaum city.The temple was constructed by Bomappa Naik in ‘1514’. It is known for beautiful and ancient Yellamma temple.Their is a 18th century Savadatti fort which was buit by Sia]rasangi Desai. There are different temples of Ganesha, Mallikarjuna, Parashurama, Eknaath and Siddheshwara and more in the temple courtyard. People from Karnataka, Maharashtra,Goa and Andhra Pradesh gather here in huge numbers,especially witness the Jatre and worship Yellamma Devi.
Hubli and Belgaum are the nearest airports, while Dharwad is the nearest railway station. Saundatti is connected to these places by KSRTC buses also. Lodging facility is also available here.
