Say Goodbye To Carrying Your Driving License
If anything, the Narendra Modi Cabinet is by far the most tech-savvy and digitally enhanced government we have had till date. Online monitoring of power projects, redress of grievances through Twitter and so much can be done with just your fingertips.
Latest under the government’s ‘Digital India’ program is the ‘DigiLocker’ app which will bring out about a revolution and a wave of convenience for citizens. The government has launched this app to achieve paperless governance and reduce the hassles of Indians.
Do you find yourself digging through a heap of documents in your vehicle whenever the traffic cop at the signal asks you for them?
You might not have to do that anymore with this app. Now you can upload your driving license and registration certificate to your ‘DigiLocker’ and access the documents digitally.
Apart from easy access to documents, this service will also help in minimizing the use of paper. On signing up for a DigiLocker account, you will get a dedicated cloud storage space that is linked to your Aadhaar (UIDAI) number. Documents like your voter ID, school certificates, etc can also be moved to the ‘DigiLockers’ and the documents can also be signed electronically using the e-sign facility.
The service was launched on the 7th of September by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Ravi Shankar Prasad in New Delhi. It is currently in the budding stages and gradually, it could prove to be a game-changer when it comes to digital enhancement. Kudos to this innovative move!
