Karnataka has had three bandhs in the last two months, and Friday’s shutdown to protest against the SC directive on Cauvery was the fourth. Schools across the state are struggling to finish portions since they have had to give extra holidays for the bandhs.
To make up for lost days, some schools are contemplating shortening the Dasara holidays in October. Schools usually keep a few days as ‘buffer’ to account for unforeseen disruptions, but this year, they have used up most of these and have started working on Saturdays to make up the lost
Although an official notification is yet to be issued and the dates have to be decided, it’s likely that instead of remaining closed from October 8th to 27th, schools will resume on October 24th.
